No one shows up to a marathon without training — and birth is no different. Research shows that pelvic floor preparation during pregnancy can prevent tearing during birth, as well as postpartum pelvic health symptoms such as bladder leakage, prolapse and pelvic pain.
Since 2015, Sophie has helped over a thousand Yukon mamas feel empowered in the birth room and confidently reclaim their active lifestyle after baby, without pelvic symptoms holding them back.
My birth was very quick — which I feel had to do with preparing my body. I did have a significant tear but within two months all symptoms were gone and my tear healed beautifully. At 6 months postpartum, I feel basically like I did prior to pregnancy — no bladder, bowel, or prolapse symptoms, and back to running.
I only had superficial tearing — I felt really fortunate. My husband felt so much more involved than he anticipated and now tells his buddies with pregnant wives: you need to check out Beyond Birthing’s Program. At 6 months postpartum, I’m 100% back to cross-country skiing, biking and HIIT workouts.
My postpartum #2 was a complete 180. All those exercises I did in the course paid off — I know that’s why my pelvic floor didn’t feel so heavy and I didn’t have as much pain as after my first. Three months postpartum, my body feels great. It literally is life changing.
I went into pregnancy terrified I’d end up like the women in my family who never recovered. Working with Sophie in her Signature Program gave me the knowledge, the techniques, and the confidence I needed. Eight weeks postpartum, all my symptoms are gone and I’m back to everything I did before.
I ask a lot of my body — the year before giving birth I was training for a half marathon and a CrossFit competition. Five months postpartum, I’ve gone back to essentially every activity with no symptoms. My pelvic floor and core are as strong or stronger than before. I definitely credit that to the Beyond Birthing program.
I had no tear when I gave birth and was back to running after three months. My partner and I practiced the exercises together and used them during birth. I’m highly confident the program made a huge difference.
My first birth was an emergency c-section and I was determined to have a vaginal birth the second time. With Sophie’s help I was able to have a successful vaginal delivery with almost no tearing. I truly believe that the perineal stretch helped me to reach my goal, and without Sophie I wouldn’t have known about it.
After a traumatic first birth, I was terrified of going through it again. After working with Sophie in her Signature Program, my second birth was four pushes, no pain medication, and I was showering 20 minutes later. I felt like I could run a marathon right after birth.

We typically recommend starting in the second trimester. Beginning before 30 weeks gives us the time to address any symptoms, work preventatively, and cover birth and labour education thoroughly. That said, if you are past that point, don’t hesitate to reach out — there is still meaningful work we can do together, even if our time is more limited. It is always better to start late than not at all.
Absolutely — pelvic health care during pregnancy is beneficial regardless of your birth plan. Pregnancy itself places significant demands on your pelvic floor, core, and surrounding structures, and preparing your body before birth can help reduce the risk of postpartum symptoms. We can also help you prepare specifically for your surgery and set the foundation for a smoother postpartum rehabilitation — so your body is ready for what comes after, not just the birth itself.
The discovery call is a free 45-minute chat where we get to know you and your birth partner, understand your goals and needs, and together figure out the best path forward for your needs. From there, we will recommend the right support for you, whether that is one-on-one care, our Beyond Birthing Signature Program, or a combination of both. If in-person care is the right fit, we will get your first appointment booked from there.
We strongly encourage it. Your partner is an important part of your support team through your maternity journey, and having them on the call means we can hear their questions and insights too. It also ensures everyone is on the same page about the plan from the very beginning — which makes for a much smoother journey ahead.
If you don’t see a time that works for you in our online booking system, simply reach out to us directly and we will do our best to find a time that suits your schedule.
Every pregnancy is different, and the number of sessions will depend on our assessment findings, as well as your symptoms and goals. Some clients come in for a handful of targeted sessions, while others benefit from more regular care throughout their pregnancy to manage symptoms and build their foundation progressively. After your discovery call and initial assessment, we will give you a clearer idea of what to expect for your specific situation.
No referral is needed — you can book directly with us. Simply book a free discovery call as a first step.
Pelvic health physiotherapy is a regulated physiotherapy service and is therefore covered by most extended health insurance plans. We recommend checking with your provider to confirm your coverage and annual limits. We do not direct bill, so payment is collected at the time of your appointment and we will provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance provider.
