Hi, I’m Sophie!

I’m a pelvic health physiotherapist, online coach, and the founder of Beyond Birthing. I’m passionate about helping mamas feel strong, confident, and supported through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum — so they can get back to the things they love and be fully present for their family without pelvic floor issues holding them back.

Since 2015, I’ve guided over a thousand women in preparing their pelvic floor for birth and recovering fully postpartum.

Through Beyond Birthing, I offer both in-person physiotherapy care in Whitehorse (Canada), and the Beyond Birthing Signature Program — a comprehensive online education program that has helped mamas from all over the world walk confidently into the birth room and recover smoothly after.

What I believe in

You have probably heard me say this multiple times now, but birthing a baby is like running a marathon. If you don’t train for it, your risk of getting injured during the race is higher and your recovery will be longer and harder than it needs to be. I always find it so interesting too that if a runner was limping after their race, nobody would shrug and say “that’s just normal, you’ll have to live with it”. Absolutely not – they would go to physio and get help to address their injury.

Birth deserves the same approach. Symptoms like leaking, heaviness, prolapse, and pelvic pain after birth are NOT part of being a mom. They’re just signs that your body needs help to fully recover. The problem is that for too long, pelvic health symptoms have been swept under the carpet, leaving mothers to simply carry them from one pregnancy to the next, watching them build up over time without being properly supported.

That’s why I believe in approaching birth as a full continuum — preparing the body before and supporting recovery after, so symptoms are caught early and don’t compound. The goal is simple: to feel as strong and comfortable in your body as possible, as quickly as possible — so you can thrive as a mom, not just survive.

My story

Becoming a mom myself was a turning point in my work. Having gone through pregnancy and postpartum firsthand gave me a much deeper understanding of the real challenges mamas face — the overwhelm, the uncertainty, and the physical demands that nobody truly prepares you for. It shaped the way I approach everything I do: cutting through the noise, focusing on what is absolutely essential, and giving women a clear, practical roadmap — no fluff, just what actually matters for the smoothest possible birth and recovery.

What I love most about this work is the long-term relationships I build with my clients. Supporting women through multiple pregnancies and recoveries, watching their families grow, and feeling like a trusted part of their journey — that is truly the most rewarding part of what I do.

Outside the clinic

When I’m not working, I’m a proud mama of two boys, and our family loves spending time outdoors — biking, camping, skiing, hiking, and exploring the wild beauty of the beautiful land we live on.
